Snow Chances Next 5 Days!! Really??? Wow!!!

Discussion started by WildWeather 2 years ago

Good Evening All,

Can you believe it snow!!!  Hey it was just 72 degrees today Really!!??

Yes!!  It's hard to believe but I am tracking the potential for some snow!! We have two chances over the next week.

Chance #1 comes Thursday Night Nov. 13th into Friday Nov. 14th in the morning this is just a minor event that may include both rain and some snow showers or flakes mixed in with the rain as the cold air really begins to filter in along and just behind the cold front.

Chance #2The next shot after that is Sunday Night Nov. 16th into Monday Nov. 17th. It is way too early to tell how much snow but it does appear some accumulation is possible especially north and west of the I-95 corridor the big cities come Sunday Night stay tuned on this possibility.

What is causing this cold to come our way. You can thank the super storm west of Alaska sending warming conditions that way building a ridge of high pressure out in front of it and dislodging the cold from the Northern Territories of Canada and sending it south ward.

Cold Air Source

The storm that comes along on Sunday Night into Monday will be a wave of low pressure along a Polar front along the East Coat. Where and how this storm develops and its proximity to the East Coast and strength will be the telling factor if and when snow will visit the Mid-Atlantic and Appalachains.

Keep it here and check back for updates in the coming days for the potential for snow especially just north and west of the I-95 Corridor come this late weekend and early next week.

That white stuff came out of nowhere. I left King of Prussia with it raining then mixing then snowing at a nice rate. Crossed over Ben Franklin Bridge and it was barely a mist at 645pm....then at 9ish it was snowing hard in Voorhees, NJ. Crazy 24 hours. This will most likely be the norm for this upcoming winter.

If it is cold enough Sunday night that rain could be mixed with snow. Looking forward to see the next few days if things change.

Nice blog Kevin! In agreement with a lot but even though we have some nice shots off cold air coming in the next 10 days, I'm just not sure any of them will match up with the moisture. Of course, WHEN does the precip occur is the important part...night or day? Overall this looks like snow for the mountains and rain to maybe a mic for the I-95 corridor. But this is a nice early start t the cold air. The precip and cold air will match up soon enough and then it will be GAME ON FOR EVERYONE!!!!

I wouldn't worry to much about snow here in Jersey or SE PA. Would be nice to see some for sure but it is only November. I am more excited by this pattern and hoping this or some version of this pattern can repeat in the coming months a few times. For me, I'll take our new standard the early to mid-December snowstorm..... of course if it wants to snow Sunday night into early Monday I'll take it. LOL! Enjoy the day!

Classic miller a nor'easter on the GFS 0z run. I would think that if this storm comes in during the night, it could potentially end up being a colder solution resulting, a snowstorm. If it does indeed come in at nightfall, and it is more potent as modeled we could get a nice 4-8 inch snow event. Dry verga at first (evaporated moisture that doesn't make it to the ground), which usually cools all the atmospheric layers. That is evaporative cooling. Now if you have the storm stronger than modeled which we need, that could cause dynamic cooling. Usually stronger winds cools the atmosphere. This whole event should occur on Monday November, 17 2014. I think we could score a decent snowstorm with this storm. Take care everybody.

A clear case where the low near Alaska builds the Ridge and sends the cold air south out of Canada... Hello Negative EPO looks awfully similar to last year just wish I did not go with 14-26" but hey nothing has happened yet and there is no telling how long this potentially cold and snowy pattern stays put.
