Most areas picked up anywhere from .5" to 1.5" of snow with the exception of the Lehigh Valley and Central and North Jersey. They picked up 3-6" for the motst part with a few 5-8" in North Jersey.
So the rain is here for most of us but many changes are on the way throughout the day today. As the storm moves away from the region colder air will crash into the region freezing everything wet today. I do see a few snow showers on the backend of this storm this afternoon but the bigger story is the crashing temps later today and tonight.
NOW THROUGH NOON
Periods of Rain for all areas south of Central NJ and the Lehigh Valley.
Lehigh Valley will see a mix of rain and some sleet.
NOON TO 3:00PM
The storm moves away and ushers in much colder air. We'll start to see temps drop from West to East with periods of snow showers. Accum is nothing to 1/2" in some places. Untreated sidewalks and parking lots may start to freeze esp. N & W of Philadelphia
3:00PM TO 6:00PM
SNJ and the beaches start to see temps fall with a few left over rain to snow showers. Accum is a coaing at best. Untreated area will freeze as temps drop quickly by sunset.
6:00PM to TUESDAY AM
Windy and much colder with clearing skies. Low temps 11-16 degrees with the wind chill near zero at times.
WE NEED MATCH.COM
I took a look at the week ahead and the models are playing some games with a possible snow event later this week. Thursday night a cold front will cross the area with snow showers and flurries. the models do grab moisture from the south but the Euro keeps that seperate from the front and blasts Boston and Southern New Engand once again. The GFS and EURO show a miss for PHL DCA BWI with only a coating to one inch of snow expected off the cold front. We need to match up the moisture sliding from the south and the cold front to make this a bigger snow event.
NAM SAYS .18 LIQUID or maybe 1" or so.
GFS SAYS .07" maybe a coating
EURO SAYS .07' maybe up to 1"
CANADIAN SAYS .07" maybe an inch.
I'll be watching this for possible development but more focus may be for Sunday night into next Monday. For now it's a light event again. I still see a 6-12" snowstorm lurking in February. It would come between February 10-20th timeframe at this point.
