I'll start a thread for folks to post observations. This event of some snow first, then high winds with plunging temps. A recipe for a dangerous situation if you have no heat or get stuck somewhere on the road. Hope everyone is ready for this powerful storm to taking shape over the Jersey Shore and points northeast to Eastern New England.
See image below. That small closed contour is the storm thats beginning to take shape. One thing to watch is how the banding takes shape over South Jersey. There's a chance that high snowfall accumulations may occur over Philly and over South Jersey. Perhaps 5 inches is possible. Just checking outside my window, everything is now snow covered. Temperature at 29 degress as of 8:30pm. Best accumulations now underway.
Look at those wind barbs. WInds are really starting to take off over Central PA and look at the winds over eastern Maryland. Winds at least 35mph. Later tonight into Sunday the threat for power outages is likely. As this storm pulls away and just flat out bombs, winds on the backside of this low will crank up to 50 to 60mph, even isolated wind gusts to 70mph, especially coastal points. Already seeing single temps over western PA in the single digits. One of the reasons the NWS has Wind Chill warnings in effect for everyone.
Anyway, thats the latest at the moment. Definitely post away with your observation/thoughts on this major event.
