The models continue to hammer home the idea of a major snow event late Wednesday night through the Thursday PM rush hour. We are dealing with the front end of the storm right now but the real snow is on Thursday. The models have been pretty good run after run with a 4"+ at this point with the GFS pushing more than 10" for three runs in a row now. The GFS has been a decent model the last few weeks and may be the model to follow at this point. This was the model that backed off the big snow we were expecting earlier this season.
THE MODELS SAY GAME ON
This is the model run for the Delaware Valley including
South Jersey, Northern Delaware and all of Southeastern PA
The temps drop after 11pm tomorrow night and stay below freezing all day on Thursday. This snow may be the biggest of the season for many esp. Delaware and South Jersey. The chance of a snow day are on the increase with now a 55% to 75% chance at this point, The area most likely to get a snow day would be Northern Delaware and South Jersey.
So this is the early call on the snow. It's highly subject to chance but with the storm within 36-48 hours we are starting to get into the more accurate range of the models. The Baltimore/DC area may be the jackpot for snow of the models and track stay as they are this afternoon.
The Delaware and Lehigh Valley may be just north of the heaviest snow but will still see a major snowstorm at this point. a general 3-6" or 4-8" can be expected at this point however this could trend up in the next 24 hours.
