The global areal sea ice extent reaching the highest levels since ~1994 is great news. However the global sea ice was so high in 1994 not only because of a negative AMO, but also because of the Mount Pinatubo eruption. Had it not been for the volcanism, we would currently be witnessing the highest amount of global areal sea ice extent going back even farther then that.
Kevin, are you saying that prospects of 4+ are low for the rest of december? or for as long as that southeast ridge is around? And if thats the case, when do you think the more active tropical jet stream crushes the ridge?
That's more great work Paul. My front-loaded Winter and colder/snowier DEC forecast from months ago is looking great. Accuwx and everyone else that went warm in DEC/JAN (almost everybody), are in trouble. Your outlook for snowfall looks good too, (than again we ended up tenths of an inch apart on that as it were, so I might be a little biased).
