As most for u know i am also a vol firefighter . Fire Weather and Red Flag Conditions had alot to do with the fire spread of the fires that occured in Stewartsville bedford county
The First Call was recieved for heavy smoke in the vacinity of a road named jusctice circle off a main road route 24. The first on scene was A paid medic unit Medic 14-8 they advised a acre or a few on fire. Brush 13 responded with me in the seat as officer to this location . The engine was going to provide structual protection .When we arriived we came up with a plan to attack the fire . due to the strong winds above 30mph it made it very dangerous as myself and a fellow firefighter attacked the fire. we made some decent progress against fire swirls and changing conditions. we were able to put out alot of the fire . we were suppose to be getting a dozer to cut a large line . But a second fire broke out on the mountain and also 2 structures . the structures spread to brushand went up the mountain fast . The units and the dozer was stripped from us and givin to the larger incident , we contained the fire and kept the point of origin intact for investigators. We cleared up and went back to station some 7 and a half hrs after it started .
the second fire was caused by this . here is the link to read
