We are going through another soggy period but not as bad as the last few rounds in July and last week. Storms will be around but that action may be come tomorrow and with a little timing on our side the weekend is starting to look better and better.
We can expect the pop-up showers and storms the next few hours and yes a few will have heavy downpours with lightning. The humidity is back and that is the fuel for the fire so to speak this afternoon
The red zone is potential severe weather on the Severe WEATher index) we look for 200+ for thunderstorms, 300+ for severe storms and 400+ for tornadoes here in the Mid Atlantic. It's still not a big severe weather type of system but a few isolated ones could pop up tomorrow.
The beaches in NJ DE MD are doing a little better with storm chances now through tomorrow so if you are down there or headed there the odds are a little better in your favor.
I'm starting to like the weekend better and better simply due to the drier slightly coooler air mass returning back to the region. I will slot a 10-20% chance of an isolated storm or shower before 5pm on Saturday and no rain on Sunday. If you have outdoor plans for either day I would not cancel them at this point.
